First-ever Solstice Run in Wenatchee to benefit Pybus Foundation

Wenatchee is finally getting a Solstice Run, with a little beer and one of the first peeks at the new Pybus Public Market Annex awaiting those who finish.
 

"The Pybus Market Charitable Foundation is honored to be the recipient of the proceeds from the first Solstice Run in partnership with Run Wenatchee, Brewers Row and the Chamber,” said Steve Robinson, Pybus Market general manager. “The proceeds from this run will go directly to our Annex Remodel, which will be used for community and non-profit activities.”
 
The event will double as the first official event of Wenatchee Brewers Row, which formed late last night after it was identified as a project in the Our Valley Our Future Action Plan.
 
“We love how everyone has come together on this event and for such a good cause,” said Dan Bass, whose Wenatchee Valley Brewery is part of Brewers Row, along with Badger Mountain Brewery and Columbia Valley Brewery. “All three breweries are excited about the opportunity to share our craft beer with folks and to educate them about it.”
 
The 5K course will begin and end outside Pybus, located along the Columbia River waterfront. Runners and walkers will travel by Badger Mountain Brewery, Columbia Valley Brewery and Wenatchee Valley Brewery, where they will receive wrist bands. Once back at Pybus, the wrist bands will gain participants entry to a post-race party in the new Pybus Annex to celebrate the longest day of the year. Each brewery will be pouring their beers. This family friendly event also will include non-alcoholic beverages, snacks and live music. 
 
The cost to participate in and/or attend the fundraiser is $25 for adults (21 years and older), $15 for those 13 to 20 years of age, and free for children 12 years and younger. The cost goes up $5 more the day of the event. Each paid participant 21 years and older will receive a token for one beer inside the Pybus Annex and a commemorative Solstice Run tasting glass. Additional tokens for beers can be purchased at the post-race party.
 
People who do not want to run or walk the 5K course can still attend the event.

RunWenatchee, which is overseeing the run/walk portion of the event, is donating all proceeds from registrations to the Pybus Market Charitable Foundation. RunWenatchee will not hold its weekly Run Club event that night so its runners can participate in the Solstice Run.
 
“We want to give back to Pybus,” said RunWenatchee’s Steve Maher. “They’ve been great to us. This is going to be a fun event. We are happy to help out.”
 
Pybus Market Charitable Foundation enhances the quality of life in North Central Washington by engaging in charitable activities at Pybus Market that build community, support other non-profits and are educational in nature.
 
Wenatchee Brewers Row is located along the city’s Columbia River waterfront and includes three founding members: Badger Mountain Brewery, 1 Orondo Ave., Columbia Valley Brewery, 538 Riverside Drive, and Wenatchee Valley Brewery, 108 E. Island View St. All the breweries are within walking distance of each other, including via the region’s landmark Apple Capital Loop Trail along the banks of the Columbia.
 
RunWenatchee is the region’s premier running organization. It puts on eight trail and road races annually, a free weekly Thursday run and walk known as Run Club, free weekly track workouts during the warm weather months, and several social events.
