Gesa Credit Union to host Business After Hours tonight

Gesa Credit Union will host the Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Business After Hours gathering this Thursday at 5 p.m., with Gesa opening its 1005 N. Wenatchee Ave. doors to members of the Valley business community wanting to network.
Gesa opened its branch in Wenatchee 15 years ago after a merger with Apple Valley Credit Union. Its original branch opened in 1953 in the Tri-Cities. During this time, Gesa (pronounced Geese-uh) has tried to remain committed to the communities it serves, said Angie Brotherton, Gesa’s community relations and education manager.
 “Our success is really (about) sticking to the model of ‘people helping people,’” Brotherton said. “That’s what credit unions started with, that’s what we are about, that’s what is in our DNA.”
With 18 locations in Eastern Washington plus 11 high-school branches, Gesa welcomes anyone who lives, works, worships in, or knows someone who does, in Washington state. It started as a credit union for the General Electric’s Supervisors Association working at Hanford.
Wenatchee’s branch of Gesa employs nine people.  This will be the branch’s first time hosting Business After Hours this year.
“We really believe in supporting our chambers of commerce, because of their commitment and their ties into supporting economic development in their communities,” Brotherton said. “We love what the mission and goal of a chamber commerce (are). By us supporting their events and hosting events such as this, that helps show our commitment to the Wenatchee Valley Chamber and provides an opportunity for businesses to come together and network.”
