The NCW EcoChallenge is a community-wide competition for residents of Chelan and Douglas counties.
Participants challenge themselves to try new, environmentally-friendly behaviors for two weeks: brushing teeth without leaving the water running, changing to LED lightbulbs, riding the bus, recycling, and eating local foods, to name a few.
You choose the behaviors you want to change (from dozens of options), and report your progress online daily to earn points. In addition to learning how to reduce your carbon footprint and be kinder to the planet, you have a chance to win valuable individual prizes!
NCW EcoChallenge teams also compete to provide cash prizes to the nonprofit agency of their choice!
- First Place = $1,500
- Second Place = $750
- Third Place = $250

It’s Easy!
- Create a team of up to 15 people total (friends, coworkers, staff, board members, classrooms, etc.)
- Identify a “Team Captain” that will register their team
- Select a nonprofit for which your team is competing
- Team members will sign up online and chooses their “challenges” – behaviors you will try to change during the 2-week challenge
- Individuals record their progress online daily
- Compete for individual prizes and three cash prizes for nonprofit agencies

Eligible Nonprofits
- Must be a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, public agency, church, or school in Chelan or Douglas County
- Must be approved by the Community Foundation of NCW – click here for a pre-approved list, or email jennifer@cfncw.org to ensure your chosen nonprofit is eligible

Daily Prizes
Each day, one name will be randomly selected from those who have logged their daily points.
- $1,000 in gift certificates to local businesses (10 – $100 certificates)
- $250 gift certificate to Rhubarb Market
- $100 cooking classes for two at CheffyK & CA
- $100 for 20 energy saving kits by the Chelan County PUD (Chelan county residents only)
- $93 gift certificate to the Kingfisher Restaurant at Sleeping Lady

Team Captain Prizes
At the end of the competition, one team captain will be randomly selected to win a $100 gift certificate to a local business.
The Grand Prize:
One winner will be randomly selected from everyone who has earned 50 points or more during the competition to win an iPad donated by Derby Canyon Natives.
