    On June 5 at 7:00pm, the Numerica Performing Arts Center will host the first APPLE AWARDS, an annual ceremony to honor the achievements of local, participating individuals and programs that have demonstrated excellence or innovation in theatre. Winners from 7 categories will be announced, entertainment will be provided by Music Theatre of Wenatchee and Fabulous Feet Dance Studio, and a recipient of the Numerica Theatre Scholarship will be recognized.     The third annual Flywheel Investment Conference was hosted in Wenatchee on April 18. During the event, $185,000 in funding was awarded to two Washington State companies by angel investors in North Central Washington. Beta Hatch received $135,000 in funding and cash prizes, and Prescryptive Health received $50,000 in funding. Read more

    A mock car crash scene will be the center of the Careers After School: First Responders event on Thursday, May 9, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Eastmont Community Church,783 4th St. NE East Wenatchee. Police, fire, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), dispatchers and other emergency medical services professionals respond to emergency situations such as heart attacks, head injuries, car accidents, fires, and crime scenes. They do what is necessary to stabilize and transport patients via an ambulance or by helicopter to a hospital, if needed, for continued care from a physician. At this unique Careers After School (CAS) event, attendees will find themselves in the center of a mock car crash and will witness these first responders in their element. Read more

    Chelan PUD and the Microsoft Corp. are announcing today a five-year clean power agreement that will bring 100% carbon-free hydropower to energize Microsoft’s campuses in the Puget Sound region. As part of the clean energy sale agreement, the two organizations also will partner to investigate expanding fiber and wireless-based high-speed broadband access in Chelan County. Read more

    The Wenatchee Valley Dispute Resolution Center is offering Basic Mediation Training - Resolution Washington and Washington Mediation Association approved 40-hour Basic Mediation Training course. This course teaches the process of mediation,communication skills, and conflict dynamics to promote peaceful and constructive approaches to conflict and its resolution, whether in the workplace, home, or in our community.     The Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council today launched a survey to gauge what kind of social and community services are needed by residents. Survey respondents are being asked to identify barriers they and/or family members encounter in accessing services in the two-county area; ways to eliminate those barriers; the challenges the community faces in providing services; and the community resources they consider to be the highest priority.
