2019 Firewise Day- Wenatchee
Preparation, Response, Recovery February 23rd, 10am-1pm. Firewise Day is presented to create an awareness of the risk of wildland fire in North Central Washington (NCW) and foster local residents to take action to reduce the potential loss of lives, homes and businesses in the area. Many different local organizations will be there to teach and demonstrate actions that can be taken before a fire threatens one’s property. Learn how to be prepared and what to have ready in case an emergency evacuation is necessary. Children can have fun with an art project while learning what important items they would like to have at the ready in case an emergency evacuation is necessary. Come on down, have fun, and learn something at Firewise Day on February 23rd at Pybus Public Market from 10am-1pm. Free family friendly event. Presentations Schedule: 10:00am Era of Mega Fires Video. 10:30am Ready, Set, Go - What to do to be prepared when a wildland fire occurs in your area. 11:00am Master Gardeners - Firewise landscaping your home - How to landscape your yard to reduce the potential of damage from wildland fire. 11:30am Pateros Post Wildfire Community Recovery- Presented by volunteer firefighter & Pateros Mayor Carlene Anders. 12:00pm Native American use of Fire - Native Americans historical use of fire to help sustain the forest and their way of life.
