Fall mushroom season is here! Leavenworth resident Brian Luther from the Puget Sound Mycological Society, will guide us through a fall mushroom forage. The day will begin at the Wenatchee River Institute with a brief introduction to fungi and the environment where it grows and thrives. Brian will then give instruction on what is needed for collecting mushrooms and staying safe while foraging through the forest. Most of the course will be spent outdoors searching for, and yes collecting! –the delectable beauties found that day. The day will conclude with identifying what is collected and learning about how the bounty of fungi can be used. Please dress for changing fall weather, and bring your lunch, snacks and water. Note that the forage may include walking on uneven ground. WRI Otter Van transportation included to forage sites.
