Wenatchee Valley Empty Bowls Community Painting Party
The 7th Annual Wenatchee Valley Empty Bowls Community Paintings are on 3 Sundays from 1pm to 6pm at Pybus Public Market: December 2, January 20, February 17.
The purpose of this event is to “Inspire Creativity, Build Community, and Raise Awareness About Food Insecurity and Hunger In Chelan and Douglas Counties.”
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight the growing issue of food insecurity and hunger across the world through artistic expression, community engagement, and education on how to contribute to hunger relief actions. Here in Wenatchee, Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council, with the help of several generous sponsoring local businesses and organizations, hosts community bowl paintings throughout the winter months and a simple soup and bread dinner in the spring to do just that.
With a $10 dollar donation to the North Central Washington Food Distribution Center, anyone can receive a blank bowl that they will be given all the materials and instruction needed to personalize it with paint. For $35 a family can paint up to 5 bowls. Your bowl then gets a final layer of glaze and is fired into a finished masterpiece. Your donation includes admission into our dinner in the spring, where we gather around a simple soup and bread dinner to work against hunger in our community.
The soup and bread dinner will be at a location TBD in the spring of 2019.
