    Job Description
    Chelan County Fire District 1 is an “all risk” fire department.  We respond to all types of emergencies including structure fires, wildland fires, vehicle fires, hazardous materials incidents and medical emergencies.  Because of the wide range of services provided to our community, we strive to provide all the necessary training needed to serve.  Our personnel are expected to be physically fit and mentally prepared to meet these many challenges and demands.
    Resident Firefighters are part of the Wenatchee Valley College/CCFD1 Fire Science Program.  It is a two-year program in which the Resident is also a student, working to achieve his/her ATS degree in Fire Science. The access to the college education offered includes a Firefighter Recruit Academy. The Academy includes the certification process for Firefighter 1 and 2, HazMat Awareness/ Operations, and EMT. And an IFSAC testing process is provided.  
    All tuition is paid for by CCFD1 which includes a daily meal stipend.  The Resident Firefighter follows the same shift schedule as the career firefighters do.  This is a 24/48 hour schedule with assignment to A, B, or C shift.

It will also provide the community with a valuable service that has the potential to touch us all. 
    Upon successful completion of the two-year program, a Resident Firefighter will be have the tools necessary to transition into testing for career firefighter positions anywhere.
