    The WVHS Marketing & Communications Officer will work 32 to 40 hours per week, reporting to the Executive Director to spread the message of the organization, as well as to solicit support for the organizations mission and programs including Humane Society, Animal Care & Control and Club Pet. The position involves time in the office, phone calls, off site meetings and occasional weekends and evenings.

    Specific responsibilities include:
    Work with the Executive Director to develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-level fundraising and marketing plan with goals and timelines. 
    Responsible for overall Marketing and Messaging strategy to Include:
    - WVHS Events including annual gala and holiday luncheon
    - Community Events
    - Promote Club Pet Services to grow the business
    - Positive and informative messaging of Animal Care & Control
    - Mailings
    - Social media
    - Website
    - Newsletters
    - Legacy Club
    - "Story telling" for fundraising, creating an "ask"
    - Timely and creative thank you letters to supporters 
    - Phone calls to donors, sponsors, community partners
    - Event Sponsorships
    - Membership Program
    Assist in growing a legacy gifts program including identification and communications of legacy donors. 
    Set up meetings for E.D. and/or board members to meet with donors or make presentations 
    Work in partnership with the Chair of the fundraising committee
    Write Pubic Service Announcements
    Work with Administration Assistant to ensure that donor data is current and correct
    Attend departmental meetings to maintain effective communication
    Other tasks as assigned

    Required Qualifications:
    Community minded; committed to WVHS mission, vision and objectives
    Experience in one or more of the following: communications, marketing, fundraising, event planning
    Highly energized and proficient with databases, electronic and print communications
    Positive, energetic, self-starter with a can-do attitude.
    Ability to meet deadlines and work quickly and cooperatively under pressure
    Excellent writing, speaking, telephone and interpersonal skills

    Desired qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in a related field
    Previous experience working in nonprofit fundraising
    Bilingual in English and Spanish
