    Job Description
    Pacific Appraisal Associates, a privately owned real estate appraisal firm, is seeking a Commercial Real Estate Appraisal Trainee (will consider a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser).
    The position works closely with appraisers to provide support in research, reporting and database management while following the continuing education program to learn necessary appraisal concepts. This position will lead to becoming a Certified Commercial Appraiser as the trainee meets state requirements.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Assisting appraisers in the valuation of retail, office, industrial and other properties by;
    • Collecting subject data (land, building, tax, zoning and other pertinent data)
    • Search and input new data into internal databases
    • Successfully procure and confirm comparable sales (confirm via phone interviews)
    • Analyze comparable data relative to subject property characteristics
    • Compose the “front end” of an appraisal report
    • Proof/read through completed appraisal reports for content consistency, report language, format
    The candidate will work well under pressure as routine may be interrupted by special requests and deadlines. Other qualifications include;
    • Interest in the real estate profession
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
    • Excellent research skills - Ability to develop efficient internet research
    • Self-starter with strong organizational and analytical skills
    • Must have means of transportation for out of office research
    Bachelor’s degree required (finance or real estate a plus).
    Note: A Certified General Real Estate Appraiser candidate must have or complete all the following requirements.  To be eligible a candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree, 300 classroom hours, a supervisory appraiser, and 3,000 hours of appraisal experience with 1,500 hours consisting of non-residential work.  For more information regarding the certification process please see the Washington State Department of Licensing website (http://www.dol.wa.gov/business/appraisers/appcertgen.html)
    The required classroom hours, if needed, can be completed as a part of the training process at the employee expense.
    Hours, Compensation & Benefits
    37.5 hours per week
    $2,500 to $3,000 per month
